X-windows, with or without
the font server (XFS) running can be crashed remotely via Mozilla
when fonts are set to an unnaturally large size with CSS (Cascading
Style Sheets), Tom Vogt of Lemuira.org has reported. |
Bandwidth Monitoring.
Brian May wondered what the best way with Debian would be to
monitor IP packets sent/received over an external (i.e. volume
charged) connection? He wants to know how many bytes a host
A did receive on what port, which internal host received the
most external traffic etc. He included a summary and summarized
answers as well. |
As recently reported
on Slashdot, the first release candidate for Slackware 8.1 is
now available on ftp.slackware.com (and hopefully some mirrors
by now). Recent additions to -current include Mozilla-1.0rc3,
KDE-3.0.1, and gcc-3.1. This is all leading up to what we're
hoping will be the best Slackware release ever! Thanks to all
the people contributing bug reports, patches, and suggestions.

XFree86 has the proud
honour of announcing that unlike other technologies that have
come and gone, it is now officially 10 years old. What makes
this particularly adventful is that it is fully backwards compatible;
this is a true testament to the spirit of the original X protocol
of which XFree86 is its finest implementation. |
